Influential Magic by Deanna Chase is a good book.
I don’t read many books by Deanna Chase as this is my first one but this is a pretty good book.
Anyways this book has a whole lot of fun stuff in it. Like:
- The Fated Cupcakes: with cupcakes, milkshakes, and candy that all give you a bit of magic
- Link the Shih Tzu/Wolf
- Family Ties
- Lots of different types of Magic
Our Characters are:
Willow, she is a fairy who gets her powers from the plant’s life energy. Willow has many gifts, but she is also vulnerable because of those gifts. I really liked Willow. She makes awesome sounding cupcakes (yep I have been craving them since I started reading this book) and she is a vampire hunter. How cool is that?
David. Willow’s ex-boyfriend who is now a vampire. I mean who would ever think that a fairy would ever love a vampire. Granted yes he was human when they were dating but that’s beside the point.
Phoebe. She is a kick-butt witch, Willow’s partner at the Void and roommate. Phoebe is tough and stubborn. I liked her from the beginning.
Tailsen. Willow’s teenage crush from northern California. He was also Willow’s twin brother’s best friend.
This book has a lot of fun curve balls that it throws at you, just when you think you have a clue about what is going on, Boom! I should know I have had to step back and really think about it before continuing on.
This book is really good and I am happy that my mom told me about it.
I only gave Influential Magic by Deanna Chase four stars because it was good but not great in my mind unlike some of the other books I have read. That and I didn’t I liked the ending of this one.

Deanna is a native Californian. After spending five years traveling in an RV, she and her husband moved into an adorable cottage in a small town outside of New Orleans. After about six months, Deanna was convinced their 1907 home was haunted. Late at night as she penned Haunted on Bourbon Street, she often heard footsteps throughout the old house. Luckily, the spirit appears to be harmless, as he/she has never done more than make a little noise and possibly smoke a few cigars.
