All Lexi wants to do is get through the day at her boring temp job with Green Hand Insurance. That’s until she discovers the vice president, Martin Dean, in a pool of blood and herself at the center of an investigation into insurance fraud.Millions of dollars are missing, the chief suspect is dead and her mysterious, sexy, new boss is not what he seems.Recruited by the joint task force working on the case, all Lexi has to do is work out who killed Dean and where the missing millions are. That’s easier said than done when her sister insists upon the baby shower to end all baby showers, her wise-ass cop family just wants to keep her safe, someone keeps leaving her creepy gifts, and all the clues point to a seedy sex club on the wrong side of town.As the bodies start to pile up, Lexi is on a race against time to find the killer and the money, before she’s the next one in the murderer’s sights.

Murder, fraud, blackmail, can she figure it before someone finds her dead?

Armed and Fabulous by Camilla Chafer is the first book in the Lexi Graves Mysteries Series, this book starts out a little like the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich. Ms. Chafer has given it a different spin. I liked the book and similarities aren’t that big of a deal. The characters are well rounded and the story kept moving along at a nice speed.

Lexi Graves is a temp extraordinaire. She has long beautiful blond hair, which she is a little obsessive about. She is from a family of cops (her dad is retired, and her three brothers are currently working in different departments), with the exception of her sister who is an attorney. Lexi really hasn’t found her place in the world yet. She is smart, she was in the army, she has a degree, but she still doesn’t know what she wants to be when she grows up.

Lexi is working at Green Hand Insurance when her big boss is murdered. Lexi, of course, finds the body. This becomes Lexi’s thing…finding dead bodies. This is where her supervising boss Adam confides in her that he is an undercover cop. Then Lexi is recruited to work with Adam and his FBI partner Solomon. Lexi finds both of these men are not bad on the eyes and the feeling seems mutual.

I liked that Lexi was smart about finding the clues sometimes though she sort of lost her train of thought, you know those hot guy distractions. Her friend Lily is a crack up. The things that girl knows about the weird side of Montgomery are crazy. I really liked that she was always supporting Lexi even on the craziest capers.

The mystery was good. I found a couple of errors but overall it was a good story. I will be checking out the next book in the series. So my rating is 4 stars for the first bool in the Lexi Graves Series.

Camilla Chafer is the author of the Lexi Graves Mysteries and the Stella Mayweather urban fantasy series, plus brand new mystery Deadlines, a spin off from the Lexiverse. If she wrote faster, she’d probably be the author of other books too.

Welcome to Everlasting, Maine, where there's no such thing as normal.
Anna Crawford is well aware her town is filled with supernaturals, but she isn’t exactly willing to embrace her paranormal gifts. Her aunt says she’s a witch-in-denial. All Anna wants is to live a quiet “normal” life and run her business, Witch’s Brew Coffee Shop and Bakery. But everything is about to be turned upside down the moment Jackson Argent walks into her life.
Jackson isn’t sure why he agreed to come back to his boyhood home of Everlasting. It’s like a spell was cast and he couldn’t say no. Covering the Cranberry Festival isn’t exactly the hard-hitting news this reporter is used to. But when a local death is ruled an accident, and the police aren’t interested in investigating, he takes it upon himself to get to the bottom of the mystery. To do that, he’ll need to enlist the help of the beautiful coffee shop owner.
It soon becomes apparent things are not what they seem and more than coffee is brewing in Everlasting.

What did you say, weren’t we talking about scones?

Fooled Around and Spelled in Love by Michelle M. Pillow is the third book in the Happily Everlasting Series, each story is written by one of the four authors. The story takes place in Everlasting, Maine a small town along the coast, “where there’s no such thing as normal.” I found this book not as funny as the last one, but I liked the mystery a little better.

The town of Everlasting, Maine continues to grow on me. This story starts with the death of one of the town’s young gentlemen and how our young sleuths figure it out, and maybe they fall in love. I really love happy endings. I better not go there though.

Our female lead is Anna, the owner of the Witch’s Brew Coffee House and Bakery. She is Aunt Polly’s niece. Yes, the Polly who gave Hugh the non-cussing potion. Yes, back to Anna. She is a witch in denial. Anna is also a very generous soul, she helps everyone, giving them free muffins and checking in on them, she is a friend to everyone. Anna is crazy busy with the cranberry festival and all the baking. Anna makes her living at the Witch’s Brew but she loves photography. She also has a small trust issue when it comes to magic and relationships. Polly put cast a spell to make her and George have some fun and Anna thought she was in love until she wasn’t.

Jackson is a journalist, who was born in Everlasting. He is back to write a story exposing the unnatural things that happen in Everlasting during the Cranberry Festival. He was told that Anna would be a great photographer to hire when he arrived in town. The thing about Jackson is he knows what is right and wrong but he kind of puts his own spin on what he figures is right. Jackson is a lurker, his conscientious can leave his body and walk around listening to conversations and snooping. This is a very convenient skill for a journalist.

Polly the local witch is positively wonderful. What a great aunt. She really keeps things moving. Polly like many of the inhabitants of Everlasting has her own sense of fashion. Did I mention the bright red hair? Polly cast the spell to bring Jackson to Everlasting and now Anna can’t tell if she honestly likes him or if it is a spell.

Anna and Jackson have set out to find the person that killed George, but they may find out more about George than Anna really wanted to know. They will also have the assistance of a cursed camera and Polly of course, but don’t count on much help from the Deputies as they have other things to keep them busy. Below is my favorite quote from this book.

“I told you, either use it or don’t, but you can’t just dibble-dabble with the bibble-babble.” – Aunt Polly

This series is chalked full of interesting characters who do some of the darnedest things. I truly adore Everlasting.

My rating is 5 stars, I highly recommend this book and the series. This is the first book that I have read by Michelle M. Pillow but I look forward to reading some of her other books, as they look steamy and magical.

I will be starting the fourth book in the series, Witchful Thinking by Kristen Painter. I have read many of Kristen’s books and I am really looking forward to this one.

As long as she can remember, Michelle has had a strange fascination with anything supernatural and sci-fi. After discovering historical romance novels, it was only natural that the supernatural and love/romance elements should someday meet in her wonderland of a brain. She’s glad they did for their children have been pouring onto the computer screen ever since.

Michelle loves to travel and try new things, whether it’s a paranormal investigation of an old Vaudeville Theatre or climbing Mayan temples in Belize. She’s addicted to movies and used to drive her mother crazy while quoting random scenes with her brother. Though it has yet to happen, her dream is to be a zombie in a horror movie. If you love mysteries with cats, get ready for a thrilling, action-packed read that will keep you guessing until the very end. While Katherine and Jake are tying the knot at her pink mansion, a teen ghost has other plans, which shake their Erie, Indiana town to its core. How does a beautiful September wedding end in mistaken identity . . . and murder? What does an abandoned insane asylum have to do with a spirit that is haunting Katz? Colleen, a paranormal investigator at night and student by day, shows Katz how to communicate with ghosts. An arsonist is torching historic properties. Will the mansion be his next target? Ex-con Stevie Sanders and the Siamese play their own stalking games, but for different reasons. It's up to Katz and her extraordinary felines to solve two mysteries: one hot, one cold. Seal-point Scout wants a new adventure fix, and litter-mate Abra fetches a major clue that puts an arsonist behind bars. Enjoy this stand-alone novel, then learn more about these characters in their debut book, "The Cats that Surfed the Web." Amazon's bestselling author of "The Cats that . . . Cozy Mystery" series.

My Thoughts:    Katz becomes a Cokenburger! Excellent Story!

I don’t what made Katz think she could get married without incident and that’s not even counting the Siamese ring bearers. Cute idea but kind of crazy, lots of laughing.

I like that Ms. Golden has built her town with unique and quirky characters. It feels like small town life where you have friends and not-so-friends that you interact with daily. People that share your life and know your business whether you would like them to or not. I truly liked the neighborly attitude of the people of Erie and the way they pull together in emergencies and celebrations. It is so mid-western. This is a great cozy mystery.

Katz sees the good in people, as with Stevie Sanders, who had been in a few of the books and it is nice to see that he is changing his life for the better. His sister, Barbie remains slightly flaky even though she has improved her life too.

Jake is such a sweetheart. He and Katz are a great match. The love and respect they have for each other and their cats is inspiring. I look forward to them tackling the next mystery together. Nine heads is better that one, three, five, oh you get the picture.

Kuddos to Ms. Golden for such an outstanding installment. I find that I thoroughly enjoy this series. Therefore my rating is 5 Stars. If you haven’t read this book or series check it out, it’s worth the time.
