Shadowhunters

Season 2 Episode 2

A Door Into the Dark (January 9, 2017)

Plot Summary

Alec and Isabelle act quickly to find Jace after the Clave issues a “shoot to kill” order; Simon turns to Magnus for help when he finds himself at odds with both Raphael and Aldertree; Clary struggles to figure out where she belongs.

My thoughts on this episode:               Once again we have some more season one recaps before we start off after what happened with the first episode of season two. Alec tells Clary off since a lot of trouble has happened for him, Isabelle, Jace, and his parents and brother Max.

Another episode of a lot of things happening for the characters. The other shadowhunters don’t trust her since she is Valentine’s daughter and won’t let her help with anything that has to deal with Jace and she doesn’t think she belongs in either of the two worlds anymore.

Jocelyn is putting finding Jace and killing him on hold so she can get Clary back. Even though Clary doesn’t want anything to do with her mom at all. She also helps Isabelle and Alec even if Isabelle doesn’t like what Alec has to do.

Jace is still struggling to figure out who he is and how that will affect him in the long run and he doesn’t fully believe Valentine until Valentine brought Clary via Dot.

Simon has been put into a tough spot by both Aldertree and Raphael and he doesn’t know what to do about it. He and Magnus come to a agreement of sorts about Simon’s status of being a vampire.

Shadowhunters Part 13Shadowhunters 1.13

Episode: Morning Star

Plot Summary

Jace makes the search for Valentine his main priority as he continues to reel from recent events; Clary and Simon’s efforts to unlock Jocelyn’s coma may impact the Downworlder peace treaty and Simon’s relationship with Raphael.

My take on this episode:          We start off this episode with a little bit of what happened in the last few episodes. Then we start the episode with them in their clothes from Lydia and Alec’s wedding, that never happened.

This episode was really good and is now one of my best/hated episode. Best because it was soo good and hated because it’s the last one until next year for season two. This whole episode is us seeing Jace battling against himself about being the son that Valentine raised and the one that was part of the Lightwoods family, who loves Clary.

While Clary and Simon go off with Isabelle and Alec’s help with finding the Book of White to wake up Jocelyn. Everything happened pretty fast in this episode but it was really good and I can’t wait for next season. Some nagging questions are answered but these are replaced with new questions. Hopefully, the answers to the new questions will be answered next season.

Welcome to Nocturne Falls, the town that celebrates Halloween 365 days a year.
The tourists think it's all a show: the vampires, the werewolves, the witches, the occasional gargoyle flying through the sky. But the supernaturals populating the town know better.
Living in Nocturne Falls means being yourself. Fangs, fur, and all.
For romance writer Roxy St. James, living in Nocturne Falls also means a fresh start. And as soon as her unbearable ex signs the divorce papers, that new beginning will be a reality. Unfortunately, her ex doesn’t seem ready to let her go and the subtle threats he’s been making leave her no choice but to confide in her oh-so-handsome neighbor, who just happens to be a deputy with the sheriff’s department.
But Officer Alex Cruz isn’t just the law. He’s also a panther shifter, a secret he’s sworn to keep (along with the truth about Nocturne Falls) from the very foxy Roxy. Humans aren’t supposed to know the town is filled with supernaturals. Then she starts seeing things she shouldn’t and thinks she’s losing her mind. His attraction—and concern—for her wars with the promise he’s made.
Will his truth be more than she can handle? Or will it cause her to write him out of her life?

My Thoughts: Holy Black Panthers!

We heard of Roxy St. James as she went to school with Delaney Ellingham. Roxy is a romance writer of the paranormal nature. She is hoping for a fresh start in Nocturne Falls, leaving behind all of the bad (her ex), only bringing the good with her (her corvette, writing and the essentials). She buys a beautiful home next door to one of the sheriff deputies, Alex Cruz. We have also met Alex quite a few times in the past books.

The two of them don’t start out on the best of terms but their attraction quickly turns that around. Alex is always the gentleman and Roxy is sweet, funny and learning to like herself again.

We get to see what the other residents of Nocturne Falls are up to. Delaney’s pregnancy is going forward.  Ivy Merrow is pregnant now, Shanna has hooked up with Alex’s brother Diego, and they moved in together. We also heard from the Valkyrie sisters, got to check in with Pandora. We also met a few other residents, like Agnes the book shop owner.

Kristin Painter really spins a wonderful story. Honestly, if Nocturne Falls were a real place I would move to Georgia to live there. If you haven’t already read this series check it out, it’s fabulous. I can’t praise it enough. My rating is 5 stars.

*A Nocturne Falls Short Story*

Welcome to Nocturne Falls, the town that celebrates Halloween 365 days a year.

The tourists think it's all a show: the vampires, the werewolves, the witches, the occasional gargoyle flying through the sky. But the supernaturals populating the town know better.

Living in Nocturne Falls means being yourself. Fangs, fur, and all.

When Delaney Ellingham enters the Nocturne Falls Valentine’s Day Bake-Off, she has no idea that an old rival will create such havoc. Her husband, Hugh, and her friends all come to her aid, but even they can’t guess the surprise that lays in store…

My Thoughts:               Sweets and sweetness!

Delaney and Hugh Ellingham are from the first Nocturne Falls book The Vampire’s Mail Order Bride. I loved their story. This chance to take a look into where their romance and relationship is at and is going is wonderful. We see them the other books, but it is nice to see them front and center again. Delaney is such a nice vampire. She likes to take care of everyone. It’s lovely the way that Hugh adores her, is so protective and wants to make sure that he takes care of her.

I can’t tell you much about the book without telling you what the surprise is but if you read the first book, you will most definitely want to read this book. I really hope Kristen Painter follows through with this in the next book in the series. I am really looking forward to it.

My rating is 5 stars. I find this short story is incredible. What a wonderful Valentine’s surprise. I highly recommend this series.

Shadowhunters Part 12Shadowhunters TV Show

Season 1 Episode 12: Malec

First Aired: March 29, 2016

Plot Summary

Relationships are examined as preparations are made for the wedding of Lydia and Alec; Clary, Jace, and Magnus search for a warlock, Ragnor Fell, who may possess an antidote to awaken Jocelyn.

My take on this episode:       It’s getting closer to the day everyone has been waiting for Alec and Lydia’s wedding day. Isabelle has basically taken over getting the wedding planned/decorated and making sure that Alec has his bachelor party and that him and Jace are okay.

Magnus is still not happy that Alec is getting married and was basically avoiding him until his old buddy, Ragnor Fell, told him that he can’t keep his heart locked away forever and he decided to go to the wedding despite Alec and Isabelle’s parents not being happy that he is there. They even told him that he should leave but Magnus didn’t and told them that if Alec wants him to leave then Alec will tell him to go.

Clary is all about trying to wake up her mom and that killed Ragnor on accident. She is also trying to get Jace to talk to her more than when they have missions or see each other in the Institute. She invited Simon to the wedding as her date which doesn’t suit Jace very well despite him trying to stop his feelings for Clary clouding his judgement.

Lydia told Alec to follow his heart and if it isn’t with her then she is okay with that. Malec finally kissed and the Lightwood parents have no clue what to do about this situation. Lydia is getting ready to leave including with the Cup when someone knocks her unconscious.

Luke is worried for Jocelyn and Hodge come to relieve him of looking after her so that Luke could get some rest and spend time with his pack. He then talks to Valentine. That spells trouble for everyone that is in the Institute.

I was a little disappointed with the wedding attire as in the book they wear black to weddings, and although the dress is lovely ad Lydia is beautiful. It wasn’t what I expected. I also didn’t like that tux that was picked out for Alec, he is definitely a full black tux, no tails but all black with a white or red shirt would have been outstanding.

We also have some unanswered questions in this episode too. Like: Has Hodge always been Valentine’s side or is the purely to escape the Clave’s hold on him? And how long has Hodge been a mole for Valentine?
