Welcome to Nocturne Falls, the town where Halloween is celebrated 365 days a year. The tourists think it's all a show: the vampires, the werewolves, the witches, the occasional gargoyle flying through the sky. But the supernaturals populating the town know better. Living in Nocturne Falls means being yourself. Fangs and all.
Pandora Williams is Nocturne Falls’ most successful real estate agent. And least successful witch. Her magic never has the intended outcome, but she’s learned to live with that. Mostly. Yes, it sucks, but what can she do? Then a hot new neighbor shows up and suddenly her magic works. Very cool, but very suspect. Especially since he’s a total non-believer.
Cole Van Zant likes practicality and absolutes. Things he can see and touch. So not magic. But when his teenage daughter insists she’s a witch—and they’re now living in a town that celebrates Halloween every day—he needs help. Of the witchy variety. Thankfully, his sexy neighbor buys into all that hocus pocus.
Enlisting her help seems like a great idea until spending time together reveals a supernatural surprise about who Cole really is. A secret even he didn’t know. Could Pandora and Cole really be meant for one another or is their attraction too much to believe?

My Thoughts: DIY & Supernatural! Awesome…

Pandora is such a fabulous heroine. She is confident, beautiful, successful, and not perfect. All of that make her a superb leading lady. Pandora is remarkably kind with Kaley and we really get to see her soft side in this story. I enjoyed her banter with Cole and the way she kept strong and a little sassy with him.

Cole is the strong, handsome, nerdy guy who looks cute but has no clue he is hot. He is special and yet his parents’ way of protecting him was to keep him in the dark. He has no idea of the things that have gone and are going on around him. However, once it has been brought to his attention he can see it and kind of rolls with it. I really liked his compassion and heart. He adopted his ex’s daughter, Kaley and kept custody of her after the divorce. He is a great dad, even with Kaley believing that she is a witch.

They make a great team, with his construction background and her real estate expertise, that house will be such a show place. They all make such a wonderful happy family. I really like happy endings.

My rating is 5 stars. I find this series wonderfully witty, and filled with the right amount of magic, supernatural, humor and sexual innuendo. I can’t wait to read the next book, The Vampire’s Fake Fiancee.

Willa Iscove, fae jeweler, has her first stalker. Really, he’s just one of her lovesick customers. The ring she crafted to help him find new love has backfired, making Willa the object of his affections. In a bid to rid herself of her amorous client, Willa makes a wish in the Nocturne Falls fountain using the piece of opal in her pocket and in doing so, unknowingly conscripts as her guardian the sexy gargoyle on duty.
Former Army Ranger and gargoyle Nick Hardwin has some serious suspicions about the pretty fae who just invoked the ancient pact for protection. Her kind have been at odds with his kind for ages. Now she wants his help? He’s determined to figure out what she’s up to. Which won’t be a hardship considering how much fun she is to be around. And kiss.
But then her stalker turns out to be the tip of the iceberg and things go really wrong, really fast. When Nick and Willa are both kidnapped, Willa is forced to make a hard decision. The life of her family or the freedom of the man she’s fallen for?

My Thoughts: Fae and Gargoyles. What an astounding adventure, adored it!

Nocturne Falls continues to amaze me. I love the neighborly citizens, and the underground tunnels, so awesome. It doesn’t matter who or what you are, they protect their own.

Willa has some serious magic skills, most of which she doesn’t even know about or understand. She definitely has the flight as opposed to fight gene. She is more extraordinary than she can imagine, but not just the magic, she has a truly special heart. Willa can create all kinds of jewelry and she can add magic to help the wearer with whatever they want. The Ellinghams like having her in Nocturne Falls and this is the longest that she has stayed anywhere. She has hidden strength and a stubbornness that most don’t see.

Nick is such a soldier. He has such a strong sense to protect, not just Willa but everyone who lives with injustice. Although Nick is strong he is also torn by the past of his kind and the loss of his parents. He is extremely brave and yet he enjoys taking care of Willa & her cat. His gentleness is striking. Nick although strong and a outstanding fighter, he has a genetic weakness that puts him and Willa in serious danger.

Willa’s grows so much in this story. We have been seeing her since Book 1, it is wonderful to now know her, her story and see her find love. Willa must forgive her parents to save Nick’s life and her own. She learns that her parents are sorry for the past, and Willa gets to know her brother and sisters, when she returns to her Fairy home with Nick. I enjoyed their story, especially like the description of the Fairy home and how they got back to returned to Nocturne Falls.

My rating is 5 stars. This series is remarkable and I find that I enjoy each book more and more. I can’t wait to read the next book, The Professor Woos the Witch.

Getting arrested wasn’t on werewolf Ivy Kincaid’s agenda when she arrived in Nocturne Falls, but her life rarely goes according to plan. The upside of spending the night in the local lock-up is finding a hotel room is no longer a worry...but the downside is the man she’s come to marry will get his first impression of her behind bars. Not exactly the way Ivy was hoping to meet her pack's sworn enemy...aka her fiancé.
Sheriff (and werewolf) Hank Merrow is the alpha's heir. Everything he's ever done, from becoming an Army Ranger to serving in law enforcement, has been in preparation for the day he’ll take over. Getting married to cement a shaky truce is no different. Hank will do his duty, even if it means shackling himself to a woman he has no intention of liking, let alone loving.
But Ivy is nothing like Hank expected. As feisty as she is beautiful, she's as determined as he is to make a go of marriage for the sake of peace between their packs. The trouble is, Ivy has secrets that could destroy everything Hank holds dear...including his newfound love for her.

My Thoughts:     The second book is a big hit too!

Another fabulous story by Ms. Painter, she paints a fabulously supernatural story.

Ivy is such a contradiction. She acts like she is tough as nails and doesn’t have a care in the world. However, once you get to know her you can see through she smoke and mirrors act. She just wants the love she didn’t receive as a child. Her father pairing her with Hank is his way of screwing with Hank’s pack and getting rid of the daughter he never wanted.

Hank is such a good guy. He is a super sheriff, ex-military, has a heart of gold and a huge sense of honor. It also helps that he is big, strong, employed and has his own home. What a catch! Hank has always figured that he would end up in an arranged marriage, just not to someone like Ivy. He is extremely floored when he himself realizes that he loves her. Hank’s family is cute. They are pushy and nosy, with lots of love.

The big bad in this book turns out to be Ivy’s father. Wow, that guy is an arse! He needs to be taken down about 8 pegs and Hank is definitely the guy to do it.

We get to see different areas of Nocturne Falls in this book and meet a few different people. We learn that Delaney opened her sweet shop. Hugh and Sebastian are involved too. This little town may be made up of supernaturals but is still has that small town vibe, which is so endearing.

My rating is 5 stars. I am so hooked on this wonderful series. I can’t wait to read the next book, The Gargoyle Gets His Girl.

After seeing her maybe-mobster boss murder a guy, Delaney James assumes a new identity and pretends to be a mail order bride. What she doesn't know is her groom to be is a 400-year-old vampire.
Hugh Ellingham has only agreed to the set up to make his overbearing grandmother happy. His past means love is no longer an option. Except he never counted on Delaney and falling in love for real.Too bad both of them are keeping some mighty big secrets...

My Thoughts:       I loved it! If this town were real…sign me up, I am moving.

I completely fell in love with the whole story. The characters are fabulously written with courage and history. The setting is phenomenal. This is the first book I have read of Kristen Painter but I will definitely be checking out her other books.

Delaney has such courage and strength. She knows what she wants, but she isn’t going to give up her integrity to get it. That doesn’t mean that she doesn’t know what self-preservation is though. Delaney is smart and is a crazy baker. I really like her little quirks and don’t forget her cat.

Hugh isn’t your typical vampire. He has lots of family and friends around but he is lonely and doesn’t really know it. He does have that tortured soul thing going for him. I truly like Hugh and the way that he accepts Delaney through everything. I thought his late wife’s death was tragic and his pining for her was darling. Hugh is extremely smart, brave and yet he has that sadness of one who has lost his way in the world. I think the two of them make an outstanding couple.

Gangsters beware, vampires are much more cunning and vicious that you are.

The town of Nocturne Falls is clever and fun. I love that the citizens can be their selves and that the humans all think of it as a Disneyland celebrating Halloween year round. The town accepts that and the Ellinghams who created the town have great marketing and strategy to keep the tourist coming. I think Ms. Painter has a wonderful imagination. I know I am looking forward to reading the second book in the series The Werewolf Meets His Match.

My rating is 5 stars. I completely enjoyed this book and recommend this to all of my friends.

GP The Ghoul Next DoorThe Ghoul Next Door by Rose Pressey
Series: Larue Donavan #3
Series Rating: four-stars
on July 7, 2012
Genres: Fantasy, Fiction, Mystery, Paranormal, Romance
Pages: 280
Format: Kindle
four-stars

Just when Larue Donavan, top-notch psychic medium and bookstore owner, thought she'd gotten a vacation from ghostly visitors, her ghoul friends are back. All she wants is to run her bookstore and help a few lost souls cross over into the light, but what she gets is black witchcraft, demons, and Elvis Presley. Oh wait, she likes the Elvis part.

A reality show is in town and wants Larue to join their team. She accepts the job, but gets more than she bargained for when, on the first day, she's thrown into a battle with dark forces. Larue has to deal with the demons lurking between this world and the next and even Elvis can't help her with this fight. This specter may not be out for the client after all. Instead, this demon is all over Larue like a bad rash.

The demon isn't the only one longing for someone, though. Larue's relationship with Callahan Weiss is in jeopardy when his ex-girlfriend arrives in town and decides to introduce herself to Larue via snail mail... not just once, but many times. This girl is definitely stalker material. She'll do anything to get to Callahan's heart.

When it seems as if things couldn't possibly get any worse, Larue, and everyone around her, realizes she isn't acting normal--even her eye color has changed. This demon may be playing tricks. Larue must use every bit of spiritual energy she can muster to save herself. If she doesn't outsmart the forces of evil, she may lose her sanity and possibly her soul.

Larue must banish this evil spirit back to hell with a little help from her ghoul friends... and Elvis.

My Thoughts: Wonderful story.

Larue and Callahan have a fabulous chemistry, but some people just don’t want them to be together. Then there is the coven, ghost busting, her book store and of course a demon. Can Larue be torn in any more directions? Perhaps, only the story teller knows and there are tons of red herrings, but at the actual climax is really very enlightening.

I truly enjoy the ghouls that are following her around. In this book she has celebrity ghost of Elvis, whom is related to her boyfriend Callahan. The other two ghosts are so annoying, but Larue has such strong patience that she can handle them. Larue is learning whom to ask for help and whom not to ask. That is such a hard lesson for all of us to learn. The greatest thing about Larue is her positive attitude. I find her resilience amazing. The only thing that puzzles me is her family’s lack of attendance in her life.

The sleepy little town of Magnolia is quite the supernatural mega center. Larue has yet to realize everything that is going on and around Magnolia. I think that she is known by all supernatural beings and they are introducing themselves to her, whether she wants to meet them or not.

Definitely a good read, I will be recommending it to my friends.
