In Sunnyside, Texas, Jennifer Cloud is an assistant purchasing manager for an upscale shoe store. But after her boss is arrested, she's forced to find work elsewhere and ends up in her brother's chiropractic office, where she discovers a hidden passion for helping others.
However, when she receives an unexpected birthday gift from her aunt that transports her back in time to 1568 Scotland, she meets a dashing Scottish outlaw who introduces her to a world of time-traveling keys. But on a return trip to the past, Jennifer's key is stolen by a villainous band of time travelers who will stop at nothing to collect all of the keys for themselves. When Jennifer attempts to retrieve the key and sees her cousin kidnapped, she enlists a dysfunctional cast of characters-including a few interested suitors-to help her find the key and rescue her cousin.
Inspired by the works of Janet Evanovich and Beth Ciotta and carefully researched, The Shoes Come First is a lighthearted, historical fantasy filled with time travel, suspense, and romance that's sure to please.

My take on this book:              The Shoes Come First by Janet Leigh was a very good book and definitely one that I will keep reading the series. The characters were all very different but also worked very well together in this book. I know normally I don’t like historic books but this one is definitely one of my favorite time travel books. It’s different from Mr. Heldt’s books and it’s very interesting to read.

This book is the first book in a series and we are just getting introduced to this world and the characters. That I have a feeling we will meet more interesting characters in the future books especially since these characters felt so strongly about Jennifer Cloud being there. There isn’t much to really say about this book without spoiling it but I have to say that Ms. Leigh definitely has me hooked on this series.

I am giving this book a five-star review since it’s that good and I will recommend this book to everyone, especially those who liek time travel. Since that is what got me hooked first thing.

Anyways until the next time enjoy this review brought to you by

About Janet Leigh

Janet Leigh

Taken from her website:

Janet Leigh was born in Garland, Texas and has remained a faithful Texas native her entire life. She was educated in Mesquite, Texas and has lived in many of the suburbs that surround the Dallas area.

Janet enrolled at Texas A & M University with a major in health sciences. She has always been intrigued by the human body and helping sick people get well. After seeing a chiropractor for an aggravating shoulder injury she quickly changed her major to Chiropractic. She stated, “I had been suffering for years with a shoulder injury from my competitive swimming days. One adjustment and my shoulder has never popped again. That’s the kind of Doctor I want to be.” Janet continued her undergraduate work at Texas Women’s University and completed her studies with a Bachelors of Psychology. Three years later Janet graduated from Parker College of Chiropractic with a Doctorate in Chiropractic and Anatomy.

After practicing chiropractic for twenty years, Janet decided to take a dive into writing her first novel. She has always admired writers that could make her laugh while weaving a magnificent story. Janet was working full time during the day and taking writing classes on the internet at night. “Not the fastest way to learn, but I had some great teachers and mentors,” she says now.

Today, Janet is a practicing Chiropractor and Acupuncturist. She has three kids, a mean cat and a dog that has allergies. After working all day and chauffeuring kids around at night she likes to relax with a funny romance or mystery novel. Her favorite authors are Nora Roberts, Janet Evanovich, Leigh Michaels, John Grisham and for that time when she needs a good cry, Nicholas Sparks.

Janet works part time with her chiropractor husband and writes at every opportunity. She hopes her readers enjoy her first book, The Shoes Come First: A Jennifer Cloud Novel. The first book in what Janet hopes to be a funny and engaging series.
