Welcome to Nocturne Falls, the town where Halloween is celebrated 365 days a year. The tourists think it's all a show: the vampires, the werewolves, the witches, the occasional gargoyle flying through the sky. But the supernaturals populating the town know better. Living in Nocturne Falls means being yourself. Fangs and all.

After seeing her maybe-mobster boss murder a guy, Delaney James assumes a new identity and pretends to be a mail order bride. What she doesn't know is her groom to be is a 400-year-old vampire.

Hugh Ellingham has only agreed to the set up to make his overbearing grandmother happy. His past means love is no longer an option. Except he never counted on Delaney and falling in love for real.Too bad both of them are keeping some mighty big secrets...

I love it! If this town were real…sign me up. I am moving.

I completely fell in love with The Vampire’s Mail Order Bride by Kristen Painter. The characters are fabulously written with courage and history. Nocturne Falls is a phenomenal setting. This is the first book I have read by Kristen Painter, but I will definitely be checking out her other books.

The Unexpected Couple

Delaney has such courage and strength. She knows what she wants, but she isn’t going to give up her integrity to get it. That doesn’t mean that she doesn’t understand what self-preservation, though. Delaney is brilliant and is a crazy great baker. I love her little quirks and don’t forget her cat.

Hugh isn’t your typical vampire, yet he has that tortured soul going for him. He has many people around, but he is lonely and doesn’t really know it. His late wife’s death was tragic, and his pining for her was extremely sweet. Hugh is highly intelligent and brave. And yet he has that sadness of one who has lost his way in the world. I genuinely like Hugh and the way that he accepts Delaney through everything.

I think the two of them make an outstanding couple.

Gangsters, beware, vampires are much more cunning and vicious than you are.

The town of Nocturne Falls is clever and fun. I love that the citizens are themselves and that the humans all think of it as a Disneyland celebrating Halloween year round. The townspeople accept that, and the Ellinghams who created the town have great marketing and strategy to keep the tourists coming. Ms. Painter has a beautiful imagination.
